Berlin/Cologne, October 19, 2023 - madaster, the material cadastre in Germany, and Lumoview, expert in measurement systems and automated building analysis, are working together on the digitization of an approximately 45,000 square meter commercial property in Leipzig in connection with Industrial ReUse. The building information will subsequently be used specifically for certification according to BREEAM DE Bestand by Drees & Sommer, among other things.

"If we really want to make the building sector climate-friendly and sustainable, we need to find solutions for existing buildings. The potential it contains for saving CO2 and resources is a real gamechanger," says Dr. Patrick Bergmann, Managing Director of madaster Germany.

Instead of demolishing and building anew, the commercial property in Leipzig is to be preserved, renovated and modernized. Lumoview takes over the exact measurement and analysis of the existing building in preparation for the measures, while all data is subsequently registered on madaster and supplemented with manufacturer information. Based on this data, the circularity index is evaluated, the residual value of raw materials is determined, and the amount of gray energy is calculated.Due to the exact documentation of materials and components, it will also be possible in the future to play this information directly to the manufacturers in case of reconstruction or deconstruction. This also closes the material cycle on an industrial level: Inustrial ReUse.
